As my identity grows as an artist, I am increasingly finding these traits at the heart of my work.

ADAPTABILITY.
EFFICIENCY.
Pursuing my B.F.A. in Scenic Design has continually reminded me of the importance of maintaining my design work "in service to the production". While I may find ways to incorporate my own interests, everything I create coexists with the work of the rest of the production team. My theatrical background not only has given me extensive experience with creative collaboration, but it helps center the way I work as a designer. The end goal is a collaborative story, and every piece fits together to produce that.
Continuing to grow as an artist, my interests expand; as I grow in my career, the things demanded of me have constantly shifted. My first semester consisted of building two entirely new skills- drafting and modelmaking. Moving forward, it was imperative to keep learning as much as possible about anything related to art and creation, even taking up jewelry-making and sewing. In cooperation with the concept of continued education, adaptability to issues that arise and a solution-based mindset are instrumental to success when working in a collaborative environment. I very much identify as a multi-faceted artist, and this informs and inspires my design work. The awareness of other areas and forms of art helps me maintain compassion to others while working on a team.
Efficiency has become a valued skill for me in a similar way graphic design has. From the minute it hit me that college needed to be paid for and becoming self-sufficient was necessary for survival, it was clear that time management would be crucial to my existence. Taking commissions and side jobs helped me afford living expenses, and I learned quickly how important a fast turnaround really is, especially within a setting in which the amount of quality work you do directly correlates to your standard of living.
